The other two weren't offered but I show them as installed updates so they magically appeared somehow.

Yes. Found them in Installed Updates too.
They were installed before build 9860.
After 9860 installed, I have only 2 updates, and KB3008956 was installed the 2nd time.

P.S. My Windows Update is set as Manual since the first Tech Preview build.

Curious. Both my update window and installed updates window say I have no updates at the moment. I checked and there were nine available.

9860 Build cleaned out the update history. I'm only showing KB3008956 and a defender update I installed this morning.

Since a picture or in this case pictures are worth a thousand words. This is what I'm seeing in "Installed Updates" and Update History as of about five minutes ago.

Aha. I didn't look in the installed updates. In addition to the 3 KB updates I'm also showing 2 Visual C++ updates from 10/7/2014.

I'm reasonably convinced that some of the odd behavior that may have been experienced immediately following the new build update was correct with one or more of those updates.

That's the same as mine now. Obviously all the previous updates have been incorporated in the release.

I installed build 9860. I am having all kinds of internet/connectivity issues with build 9860. I suspect the updates issued for build 9860 may solve some of my problems, however windows update (both manual and automatic) have stopped working for me. How can I get the KB updates for build 9860 without using windows update?

.............however windows update (both manual and automatic) have stopped working for me.................

Would you please clarify a couple of points ......
1.It is MS decision to make Windows Update automatic. Did you go to registry and change it to Manual ?

2. ..." have stopped working "....
Please elaborate.
How do you know it has stopped working ?
Did you click Check for Updates and get an error ?

Thank you.
