live maile and gmail not working together

Hi Robert,

Welcome to the Forum.

Gmail uses imap protocols and these need to be enabled on Gmail before setting up a gmail account in Windows Live mail.

There is a website that explains what to do which can be read here:

That would be worth checking to make sure your settings are accurate.


Another thing to consider is whether Gmail has two-step verification set up. The Windows Live mail client will have a field for account name and password, but it will not be able to process the second verification step on Gmail if this is enabled. Again, you'd need to adjust that at Gmail's end first.
