In Settings -> Accounts -> Sign-in Options, I try to set a PIN. I click the Add button and get the message, "Something went wrong. Try again later." I've checked C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService and I don't have any files there.

I think this is also causing the PlayerDVD app, which I bought from Windows Store, to refuse to run. It won't unlock the splash screen. Maybe unrelated, but I have a hunch if I could solve this problem, PlayerDVD would also run.

Hi Philip,

Welcome to the forum.

This error message usually occurs when your MS Account is not verified.

When logged into Desktop do the following:
  • Left-click on Start
  • Left-click on Settings
  • Left-click on Accounts
  • In left pane click Your email and accounts
  • Check under Manage my Microsoft account in main window:

    If
Verify is blue then click it.

Now you ought to be able to set your pin

After verifying account did you then click Sign-in options on left pane and set pin there? Or did you attempt to log out / or reboot computer to enter a pin at login screen?

log in as Admin then and set it up for user.

If you need to create the built-in admin from elevated command prompt using the command:

net user administrator /active:yes
