Show Hidden Files and Folders

Show Hidden Files and Folders

By default, Windows 10 will not show "hidden" files or folders - normally these sorts are files are used by the system for temporary or behind-the-scenes reasons and are hidden from view to provide cleaner folder navigation and prevent accidental deletion.

If you'd like Windows Explorer to show these hidden files and folders, begin by typing Show Hidden Files and Folders in to the search box on the start menu (you can just type this after pressing the start button), then click the entry:

Then, select the Show hidden files, folders and drives option from the advanced settings box and click OK:

Once you've done this, you'll see files and folders that were previously hidden. If you'd like to hide them again, simply select the alternate option in the second step of the article.
