Is there a free program to clean up my computer?

I use all three-CCleaner, disk cleanup, and free up storage monthly. No matter what sequence I run them in, each finds something the other two didn't. No problems running all three so far.

Be careful when installing apps. How to block additional apps installation.

There is a program called 'Unchecky' that supposedly prohibits boxes being checked automatically. Regardless, a person should read everything carefully when installing programs.

SOLVED Stuck in BIOS Setup, laptop will not boot into Windows

I have done the restart with the Setup Defaults, and it still came back to the BIOS setup screen. HOWEVER, I just disabled secure boot, then changed 'UEFI only' to 'both, Legacy first', restarted saving the changes & it booted right into Windows. Now my question is: should I stop here, or go...

SOLVED Stuck in BIOS Setup, laptop will not boot into Windows

The boot is UEFI only, and I cannot change that-the highlight just skips over that. Nowhere do I see a 'Windows Boot Manager' in any options.

SOLVED Stuck in BIOS Setup, laptop will not boot into Windows

Sorry if this is not the appropriate form for this, but thought i would try it. I got a Lenovo W540 several months ago, updated it to Version 1909, and it has been running great. I went into BIOS Setup to check the boot order and somehow changed something-not sure what, and now the laptop will...

Install Win 10 32 Bit on 2 or 4GB RAM computer

I might be wrong, but my understanding is the 32-bit Windows 10 can only read 3.5GB of RAM, whereas the 64-bit version will read 3.7 or 3.9 if you have 4GB installed. There's always a tenth or two reserved, maybe someone else knows why. On my Windows 10 64-bit systems (multiple laptops for...

    Wireless mouse stops working

How old is the battery in the mouse. If it were me, that would be the first thing I'd check.

    Windows Defender Questions Re Setup

Your home network-if you have a wifi network with a router inside your house and have a password to use it, is private. Any other network, anywhere else, is public. That's my philosophy.

    Set Hard Drive order

Just a suggestion, how about unplugging all but the C drive, then plugging one of the other drives in at a time, in the order in which you want them. I thought Windows assigned drive letters in the order in which they were available.

Trying to convert a concert DVD to MP3 with VLC, getting (almost) gibberish.

I have a Jimmy Buffett concert DVD that plays great (video) with VLC music player. I'm trying to convert the files to MP3 so I can burn a CD and play it in my car. I've read the directions so many times I almost have them memorized, and I've watched VLC's video on YouTube, but after doing the...

SOLVED Windows icon in the task bar changed from blue to white

My bad. Not sure where I got the idea the icon was normally blue. I just checked a couple of my other laptops, still running the prior build, and it's white on those task bars also. Ignore my first post.

SOLVED Windows icon in the task bar changed from blue to white

Running Windows 10 on my Lenovo laptop and noticed it updated to OS build 17134.407 yesterday-still running version 1803. I checked my privacy settings, and everything still looks OK. The only change I notice is the Windows icon in the task bar has changed from blue to white. It does change...

Live Mail 2012 refuses to send emails, claims they're spam

My wife uses Windows Live Mail 2012 and says it refuses to send emails, claiming they're spam. This is even replying to someone who is in her contacts list. I have run several different virus checks and nothing comes up. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. TIA Charliedog

Can the Homegroup or OneDrive folders be removed from 'This PC'?

The last time I checked, HG was still on my home computer. Guess that means that computer doesn't have the 1803 update yet. I just checked this-my 'traveling computer'-and HG is gone. Thanks Clint.

Can the Homegroup or OneDrive folders be removed from 'This PC'?

OK, I've removed the 3D objects folder from 'This PC' per the article w/o a problem. Now I'd like to get rid of the OneDrive and Homegroup folders, if possible, the same way. Never use either of them-prefer Google Drive, and it looks like HG is just duplicating the network. Just wondering if...
