I don't know if I'm stupid or just don't understand or am missing something. I upgraded from windows 7 to 10. Generally it works great! Periodically I have to reboot my computer when I do that the windows login screen won't accept my password. Then I will get the message to go to account.live.com to reset my password. HOW CAN I DO THAT WHEN I CAN'T GET PAST THE SIGN IN SCREEN!

That being said, it is said that the definition of stupidity is performing the same function and expecting different results. Well that's not true with windows 10. After trying the same logins, it seems once you get frustrated enough it will accept your login.

There are a lot of experts here I am sure. Since you have upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 7 you basically have inherited all the bugs and "features" Windows 7 had to offer. If I would be in your place, I'd delete everything (making a backup of important files of course) and do a clean install. That way you only have to deal with the Windows 10 bugs and not the windows 7 bugs anymore.
It may or may not an option for you, that is for you to decide....

I had no problems with Windows 7. I only upgraded to 10 because my wife got a new laptop with 10 installed so I upgraded so the machines could talk to each other with no problems. I download 10 from the web so I don't know how I can do a clean install.
