I took up the offer of Windows 10. Which I downloaded onto a old desktop computer. Old, well about 6/7 years old. It has never worked since. Is there a age limit for computers in which Windows 10 will work.

If so why was I not warned!

The question is not as specific as age but whether or not manufacturers will continue support for all their devices. So it is actually a driver support issue, not an age issue. However with that said, 2008 machines should still run fine on Windows 10.

Agree with Cliff. Budget restrictions stopped me buying new computers about five years ago. I use only Dells, currently four laptops and a stationery in the family. All are running 100% with Windows 10. None are "supported" by Dell, on Windows 10.
But, keep in mind, there is not too much on a computer, that is maker specific. Quite often, hardware and associated software comes from third party sources - the all-important graphics hardware, as a prime example.
