When I insert a CD should the Windows Media Player automatically start up ? mine does not so I start it and my CD and tracks are all displayed, I can rip them and sync to removal drive ok but when I remove CD and insert a different one it still shows the old one so the only way I can continue is to close programme and then open it again, should it recognise I have changed CD ?

Typically, most music CDs have track formats of .cda (Compact Disc Audio) so....
Have a look here
Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Default Programs click the link that says "Associate a file type or protocol with a program"
Scroll down to .cda and have a look as to what has been selected as the program to handle these types of files, select it and click the change button and select Windows Media Player.
