Certain Games Crashing to Desktop

Hi all,

I was hoping for some help with some annoying crashes I have been having when playing eFootball PES 2021 and Cricket 19 this past week. They were both running fine prior. The crashes don't freeze the system, they just end the game and go straight back to my desktop. The system is perfectly responsive after the "crash" happens.

My PC specs are:

nVidia GTX 970 (4GB) - Using latest nVidia drivers
i5 760 CPU
8GB DDR3 RAM

The weird thing is, the crashes can happen multiple times in one session or I can run the two games for hours on end without experiencing an issue.

I have tried the following so far:

Memtest86 - Ran overnight (4 passes) and no errors were found.
Ran the Windows Memory Diag tool as well overnight, no errors were found.
Completely uninstalled my GPU drivers (in safe mode) and then re-installed.
Ran Malware Bytes and Windows Defender and all tests came back clean.
Tried running the games with both Windows Defender and Malware Bytes disabled and this made no difference.
Ran CHKDSK tests on both of my HDD - All came back clear
Ran DISM and SFC check - All clear

My system is NOT overclocked and temperatures rarely go higher than 50-60C when under load (my CPU is water cooled).

I am at my wit's end with it and I can't seem to pinpoint what the issue would be? I have noticed that there are minidump files created whenever these crashes occurred but the codes seem to be very different and there is no common link in terms of what error codes are generated. The only commonality is it only seems to happen with these two games and I genuinely have no idea why. I also have a lot of other games installed on my system and they run flawlessly.

I can share the minidump files if they are of any use?

Thanks

Jamie

You have both Windows Defender and Malwarebytes Premium active at the same time?

That's a definite no-no, you must only have one real-time antivirus engine running or you will have issues.

So I have uninstalled Malwarebytes and I am still having random crashes, spewing up different error codes in the minidumps. Not entirely sure what else I can do.

Well that's a start. :)

You say the CPU temps are ok but what about other temps?

Upload the minidumps and we'll take a look.

Here is a link to them, please let me know if there are any issues accessing:

GPU temps are excellent, never go over 65C under load. I was using MSI Afterburner to monitor the temps when running the different games. I've not applied any overclocking to the GPU.

In the mean time, I have done a clean install of Windows 10 as that hasn't been done in a VERY long time (Since I moved from 7 to 10) so will test a bit more this morning.

The common denominator in all of those is RAM I believe. I know you've run Memtest but that canm only prove your RAM is bad, it can never prove that it's good. If that 8GB is in two sticks then remove one for a day of three and then swap the sticks over. If one is flaky that should highlight it.

First I'd try reseating the ram. If that doesn't work, try ubuysa's solution. It certainly sounds like a ram issue.
