Are you downloading from Update Catalog or allowing WU do it? If WU then download it from Update Catalog. It did take me awhile yesterday to download the file. I'm sure there servers are busy, at least with Catalog you can know that it is just downloading. With WU you don't really know what is going on.

Hi,

It just finished downloading ! o_O

But the installation was very fast ! :) Within a few minutes it was done ! :D

I was downloading from WSUS.

May be next time I'll download from Catalog.

Regards ;) JAY B.

Yes, I just trust the Download from Catalog more, that set of servers doesn't seem to have the issues sometimes related to upgrading. I don't mind the smaller security updates from WU but the larger version changing upgrades yea catalog has less issues.

Hi,

There is an issue with that update !

WU is asking me to download the same KB4040724 even though the installation was successfully done ! o_O

I checked if I was on the latest Build and I do Have Build 15063.632 ! o_O

I'm using Windows 10 Pro and it is set to ask me and let me choose if I download and install the update.
May be this request will go away ???

Hi,
Have you rebooted since the update?

I did it twice ! o_O

And it is still asking me to download that update ! o_O

This computer was running W 8.1 Pro, and after being infected with a Trojan, I erased everything and made a clean install with the version 1703 a few months ago, I think it was at the end of May.

I've never had issues with WSUS before ?!??

The computer seems to be working fine ???

;)

Probably just a cache issue with pending.xml or whatever that file is called.
Perhaps if you just go through the process again it will satisfy itself that the update is present and not needed and leave you alone.

EDIT : After doing it again (without reboot), the laptop is now O.K. :)

Two things I have to keep in mind, one is the download speed which is variable depending upon the Internet and the other is the number of files that have to be replaced during the install, some things in Windows have to be closed while being replaced even though there is usually a message one can keep working until necessary for a final restart.

On my systems these days, the most time is spent going through your files to check which ones it might need, The actual download only lasted about 30 seconds at 32 Mbps.
