I don't know that there is anything you can actually do specifically to only "text" outside of running the Clear Type wizard, which has never seemed to help me much.
IF the text you are seeing seems somewhat grey and washed out, then that is probably not the only thing that is actually grey and washed out, just the most noticeable.

Depending on your GPU driver you should be able to drop the Gamma saturation and or increase the Hue and see if you text seems to look brighter.
On my nVidia card I just generally hit it with about 25% more "Digital vibrance" and that generally improves everything overall.
