I seem to have lost access to my desktop. On startup I get the windows apps. I can clear this and get my desktop but with no Icons and when I click on this there is a quick flash of the desktop with Icons but it does not remain. I've been through the settings but cannot resolve this. can anyone help?

are you on a laptop and running in "Tablet Mode"?. Click on notifications (bottom right in taskbar) and check!.
