I have an HP pavilion dv4t 1400 CTO laptop .Came with Vista and free upgraded to window 7.
Now free upgraded to window 10 Home. Work reasonable well except problem of " search not working and start up not getting loaded"
which gets corrected on restart!
This HP laptop came with Drive D recovery partition 15 GB. and main Drive C with 285 GB.
After window 10 upgrade also the drive D remains.
Do we need it? If the answer is NO ,How to get rid of it?
Can I also now create a recovery drive ( on USB) as suggested for windows 10,
without Vista files????
Thanks

That would be up to you. It is a factory partition for use if you would ever want to restore the computer to its' original Out of Box state.

Probably something like http://www.partitionwizard.com/download.html would be your best bet for configuring your drive partitions, but....
Before you continue you should consider a complete disk image https://www.windows10forums.com/threads/please-for-your-own-peace-of-mind.794/

My suggestion would be to just create the installation media from the ISO and keep the DVD or USB drive to use. It will do everything a recovery drive will do, plus it will let you install or repair install the OS if need be.

I hv copiedthe current upgraded windows 10 in a recovery drive in USB, actual size is 4 GB approx. However the original partition of my system is 15 Gb( actual use 13.5 GB) for Vista. Can I now safely delete this partition? Is the recovery drive copy sufficient or shall I go for ISO, Where to get the product key? Tks .
