External Hard Drive Names

All drive in explorer appear as "Local Drive"
I want to rename them "Drive_A", "SOFTWARE", "PHOTOS", etc. but can't.
Is there a way?

These are external USB drives.
I can't rename them to anything other than "Local Drive"
This makes it hard to know what the drive contains without opening it up.

It appears thus:
Local Disk (M)
Local Disk (N)
Local Disk (O)
Local Disk (P)
I cant see that Local Disk (M) now contains Photos whereas last bootup Local Disk (M) contained Software
