SOLVED Frozen computer

When I started to use my desktop it normally shows me a picture with a log in button to push. Now all I get is the initial picture with nothing on it. I can't do anything else, because there is nothing on the screen except the picture. I shut the computer off and rebooted it, but there was no change. It's still on, but the screen is blank. What do I do next?

Did try clicking every button on the keyboard. Did finally come back up after It was off a day or so. The computer is less than 2 years old.
