Hibernate fails sometimes

I have this curious issue when pressing the power button to get Windows to go hibernate. Most of the times it works fine and the hibernate state is reached in 10 seconds or so. But sometimes, it takes like 3 minutes before the computer shuts down. If I restart the computer, it reboots instead of continuing the previous state. The windows event viewer doesn't show anything, except a message that the computer rebooted unexpectedly.

Any ideas on what might be going on?
