HP Support Assistant Scan in progress

I'm trying to print some documents but printer won't print, (documents shown sitting in print queue).
Bottom rhs shows HP Support Assistant scan in progress, is this stopping the printer producing my documents?
Also, how long does this take to run and then finish?

I wouldn't think that a "scan" would prevent docs from printing. If was actually updating, then perhaps their could be some drivers being updated that would result it the issue you are experiencing.
Have you opened the HP Support Assistant to see exactly what is happening?
Can you stop or cancel the scan that is currently running?
I assume that the computer is an HP, is the printer also an HP?
