Installed Windows 10 today and had that desktop until an hour ago when system reverted to Windows 7 desktop. What happened?

I have no idea what might have happened. Were you at the computer when this transpired?
The only thing I might suggest would be to check your event viewer
Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Administrative Tools\Event Viewer
Maybe examine Windows Logs -> Setup
OR
Windows Logs -> System
See if you see anything there around the date and time that this happened.
