internet adapter missing

My computer was updated on Wed, 12/16 and my internet adapter went missing..I've been on hold with HP service for over 10 hours during past few days and would like to have this internet adapter put back on....so far, I have zero results...I have tried to do it my self but to no avail

What kind of HP?
Laptop? Desktop / Tower?
Model Name? Complete Model Number?

What network adapter went missing?
Wireless? Wired?
Do you happen to know the manufacturer / chipset name and number?
Do you see anything in device manager under network adapters?
Do you see any problem devices in device manager usually indicated with a triangle icon and exclamation mark?

well actually, finally got a hold of HP support, he went and shared my computer, he pushed a couple f links, and it was fixed

Also nice that you had a second adapter available to connect to the internet so they could resolve the problem.
