I do this multiple time but my pc doesn't shut down so I cant re login ... please advise by email so I can read reply on another pc
whilst I shut this one down manually by holding down the power button

my email is (email removed for privacy)

also when setting up windows10 ( which I now regret doing ) it wanted my Gmail password or maybe Microsoft NOT the previously used PC password ... why is this and does this affect the above bug in some way ?

At the sign-in screen use the power icon at the bottom, hold the shift key and choose restart, then follow the windows to reboot into safe mode.
Log-in in safe mode give it five minutes and then reboot normally.

Can you use the Safe Mode method again to login ?
If you can, I have 2 suggestions, but only suggestions.......................

Right click at Start button > select Command Prompt (Admin) > type powershell > press Enter > wait a bit until you see....

PS C:\windows\system32>
At the flashing prompt, copy and paste this.........

Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}

> press Enter.

Ignore any error in red if you see any.
When finished, try Start Menu again.

2. Create another user account with exactly the same privileges as the one you are now using.
Logon to the new account and see if the same problem happens as well.
