Low microphone audio on Lenovo G555

Since I upgraded to Win10 on this G555, the audio level on the inbuilt microphone is very low (the green bars /just/ move, if I shout near it, so it working and selected), even when level is set to 100% and gain 20db.

I see lots of people online discussing this problem in ~July 2015, but no solutions.

Lenovo say they do not support Win10 on this device :-(
