I'm having trouble doing this. I've moved paagefile.sys away from C to another drive and adjusted its size because it's now on an SSD. Now I'm trying to move swapfile.sys off the C; drive too, using the mklink command in an elevated command prompt window. Computer says 'No; swapfile .sys already in use'. Yes, of course it is. I even see other articles stating that swapfile.sys cannot be move in this way in Win10, so why does Microsoft support articles say it can be moved? The authors of some other articles seem to think that pagefile.sys and swapfile.sys are the same thing. How can I move swapfile.sys off the C: drive?

It's encouraging to see there is so much advice and guidance here.

The forum was plagued by Spammers before I was made a moderator so I suspect many users gave up & moved on. I’ve sorted the spam problem but unless those people check in & see an improvement the forum will remain quiet.
I unfortunately don’t have an answer to your question. How old were the articles which said the file could be moved? Perhaps things have changed.
