Lately, friends have been sending emails with an MP4 attachment. I'm guessing that they are pics or something else. I cannot open them. Each time I click on one of these I get an error message. It tells me to download some sort of program that should open that attachment. I have had no luck at all with something to open the attachments. Any ideas?

An MP4 file is a video file, if you download VLC player which is in my opinion one of the best multi format players out there you *should* have no problems playing that file.

Thanks BIF. I have downloaded and installed the VLC player. Do I have to do anything special for it to work, or will it recognize and open an MP4 file?

Easiest is to click save file from your email (likely to your desktop) and right click that file once saved...
It will give a host of options.
    Click "open with"
That will bring up a choice of programs that can open that file.
Choose VLC player and you are good to go.
You can also set it as your default player if you so choose by ticking the box on the lower left asking if you want this program to open all files of this type.
    All the best!
