SOLVED My sound and CD all say working but are not

All was good when we first uploaded windows 10 but suddenly all sound has failed although system says the devices are working. Also the CD / DVD had stopped working whilst again the system tells me all is fine.
Can a recent windows update have caused this?
Can anyone assist please.

It's possible that a driver update might have been included in a recent Windows Update.

Thanks. I did and it had' A system recovery did the trick second time around!
