I had a flash drive, that I formated thru Windows 10. I needed to transfer some important files to a laptop with Windows 7. Unfortunately, the "System Volume Information" directory that Windows 10 left on the drive, won't let me transfer to the Windows 7 computer. Is there any way to format the Flash to use multiple OS formats?

I have flash drives formatted on W10 ( both USb and SD drives) and I don't get a system volume information directory. I just checked and made sure I was viewing hidden items and nothing showed up. Formatted, copied files and still ok.

So just format the drive, any format ( if it is small enough) and do a straight click and drag copy.

Or format the drive on the W7 machine? I don't have one here to try that.

Or download SDFormatter which works on sd or USB drives

That's a great idea. I think because I used NTFS, it created a system volume directory.
