I have installed windows 10 today and now I have no sound on my laptop. I have checked to see if the speakers are working and it tells me they are and I have the latest driver update. I don't have any test tone, no sound at all. Please help. and be warned that I am not in the least bit technically inclined lol.

My Viewsonic VX2370Smh monitor which has built-in speakers shows as the monitor in device manager, but I have no sound and does not show as a playback device in my sound settings. There is a high definition audio device shown in device manager "cannot start code 10". I don't know if this has anything to do with the Viewsonic sound problem. Viewsonic says it has no Windows 10 driver.

I have the same problem, but I have accidently discovered that if I go to Command Prompt(Admin) and run the command "sfc /scannow" the sound begins to work. This has to be repeated each time I restart my computer.

I fixed the problem. It needed a driver update for Intel Display Audio. (Thanks Bob - - I tried your temporary fix first and couldn't get it to work.)
