November update and Media Player

I installed Windows 10 over 60 days ago. Yesterday I completed the November update. After the update, music played in Windows Media Player will play for seven seconds then "There has been an error" and the player shuts down.

Anyone know how to fix this? Thank you.

Just tested mine and I cannot duplicate the issue.
Can you determine your version information and see if you are still on 10240 or if you have been updated to 1511.
Just hold the Windows logo key and strike the R key and type
winver
hit enter or click OK
If you are still on 10240 then you may want to check Windows Update and see if you are offered the latest update. Some people have been getting it recently.

Additionally try another user account and see if the problem is unique to your specific user profile.

Maybe consider trying to use an alternate media player, something like VLC or another of your choice.

Just to see if the problem is the same with another player.

If you are certain that an update is responsible for the problem you could always try a System Restore to a point in time just prior to that update having been installed.

I had 10240. BUT, I had a message, previous installation failed. So I tried again, with the same error at 40%. It then restored 10240. And I still have the same error.

I did install Winamp, so I lose the burning capability, and have to change a billion preferences :)

Any further thoughts would be appreciated, and thanks for the help.

Try....
Right clicking the start button and choosing Control Panel
Top right change categories to Small Icon
Open Program and Features
Left Column click the link that says "Turn Windows features on or off"
Scroll down to Media Features and Uncheck it
Click OK.
That should uninstall Media Player
Reboot
Go back and reverse the process and reinstall it.

Thanks. I've tried just that, save for the "small icons" step, but will try it again.
