Older hardware with new Windows 10

Just bought a new pc with Windows 10 preinstalled. It came with a new keyboard and mouse but the monitor I'm using is the one I bought with Windows 7 several years ago. The screen keeps flickering on and off and I've gone to the Lenovo site to see if there are any updates or drivers but nothing. I've run all sorts of updates and downloaded a driver from the AOC website which is what my monitor is. The screen might stay on for a while then it starts flashing on and off sometimes for ages. I've tried starting up in safemode and disabling a couple of things I read on the Lenovo site but nothing seems to work. Can anyone help please?

It could be that that monitor is no longer supported in Windows 10 or the connection may be faulty.

Thanks Gideon. We've now bought a new monitor and everything is working fine.
