Online problem.

My desktop has been working via Wi-Fi. If it hasn't been used in a while, it shuts itself off. When I turned it back on this morning, it wouldn't connect to the internet. The entry for connecting to Wi-Fi is no longer there. Any idea what happened to it? I managed to get back online, but only by reattaching the cable for broadband.
