I run a small computer shop at a local small town Flea Market.. I have been doing this for almost 10 years now and specialize in the Computers For Dummies crowd. People who usually have trouble finding the "ANY" key. :D While I doubt Bill Gates or Geek Squad have worry about their business model, I do have a fairly large client base...

I avoided Windows 8 like the plague and turned away quite a bit of business from people who had Win8 issues.. But I am a big fan of Win10 and plan on supporting it unequivocally and completely...

What licensing options are available for Windows 10 to allow me to upgrade people with legal legitimate copies of Win10?

Thanx

Users with Win 7 and Wion8/8.1 are entitled to free upgrade of Windows 10 RTM.
The upgrade path is...... Like to Like.
Home to Home, Pro to Pro, 32-bit to 32-0bit, 64-bit to 64-bit.
Upgrade MUST be done via Windows Update. Not via clean install.
If you have diehard fans of Clean Install, they will have to first do the Windows Update upgrade, then download the ISO and do a clean install. Otherwise they will have to purchase a Window 10 license to run a clean install.
*** free upgrade options stated above and below are NOT applicable to Enterprise users.****

Thanx for the info.. So basically I would just have to use their own systems to update them to Windows 10...

One follow-up...

When you say that I would have to install via WINDOWS UPDATE, I assume that means I can't insert an install disk/usb and update the OS that way??

Or would doing the update via ISO still constitute "via WINDOWS UPDATE"??

Thanx again for the reply...

Yep....that is correct. But MS is saying once the upgrade is in place, you would be able to create a media installation platform (USB/DVD) and then perform a clean install.

Initial upgrade to Windows 10 RTM must be done using Windows Update. Using a dvd/usb is NOT same as using Windows Update.
Diehard Clean Install advocates must first do the upgrade through Windows Update, then download the ISO file when it is released and do a clean install afterwards.

Hey davidhk129....that's exactly what I'll be doing. I've never had any good results upgrading an OS. There was always something buggy about it..and never quite as fast as a clean install.
