Pointer problems

I have an Elan Mouse touch pad and running Windows 10.
Problems:-

1. The pointer highlights text on moving
2. Magnifying or reducing on moving the pointer
3. Pointer activating on hovering.

I have tried the ease of use suggestions but without success. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Elan driver.

Your help would be appreciated.

Hi Neville,

Are you using the Elan official driver? If so, can you uninstall the driver (completely) then let Windows re-detect it and install the default Windows 10 drivers for it (rather than the ones they supply via their website). It may be that there is a difference and the Microsoft default ones will work better (perhaps at the cost of some advanced features).

Thanks Ian. I'll give your suggestion a try but since I've realised that having my left index finger hovering over the touch pad - not touching - its picked up as two fingers with my left index finger and then magnifies etc.

Ah... that sounds like it could be the problem . Glad it's a simple fix .
