SOLVED Post 2004 update external drive read only

Following the 2004 updates inexplicably my external drive says all hard discs in it are read only.

Ive tried suggestions regarding permissions but cant update the drive.

Yes. I used a Google search to find a solution. I thought I had posted the link . The solution allowed me to clear the drive attributes from read only via the Command prompt .

Solution I used: Only With Diskpart

1. Type "diskpart" in the black Run window and press Enter.
2. Type "list disk" and press Enter.
3. Type "select disk d," replacing the "d" with the drive letter you are working on. ...
4. Type "attributes disk clear readonly" and press Enter. ...
5. Type "Exit" and press Enter to close the window.
