Hi all

the title says it all, I set up the PC to boot into safe mode using the "F8" no problem, the problem started after I ran a test safe boot using the F8 key, after I logged out after snooping around in safe mode, it booted automatically back into safe mode?.

I simply reversed what I did:

  • Press the Windows + R keys simultaneously on the keyboard.
  • In the available field of the opened Run command box, type MSCONFIG and press Enter.
  • From the System Configuration box, go to the Boot tab.
  • Under the Boot options section, check the Safe boot checkbox.

I simply removed the tick while in safe mode and rebooted.

The question I have is why didn't W10 boot normally after coming out of safe mode?.

Nothing like what is showing here was present btw?:

Hi Data,

no, it booted into safe mode again and the only way I could get it to boot normally was to take out the tick in the "Boot options" box while still in safe mode?.

Yes, thats right...

By putting tick on, you added safe boot as default. (meaning it will always reboot into safe mode while that box is ticked), thats how this works, There's nothing wrong here.

If you want to enable pressing of F8 in order to access safe mode like in Windows 7, you should read this https://www.windows10forums.com/articles/enable-f8-safe-mode-boot-menu.8/

Hi Data,

I re-read the link you posted and I now have full "F8 Key" functionality. Cheers. :D
