Recovery Drive from USB

It has been suggested that I should create a Recovery Drive from USB to enable me to reboot if I get problems.
However when I use "Recovery Drive" I get the following message "We cant create a Recovery Drive on this PC. Some files are missing. To Troubleshoot when your PC cant start use your Windows installation disc or media"
As I upgraded from Windows 8.1 I don't have a disc & what is media?

The easiest method is to use Microsoft's Media Creation Tool:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

Make sure you download the correct version you need (32bit or 64bit).

When you load the tool, select 'Create installation media for another PC'

That will give you the ability to create a bootable USB 'media'.

Couldn't agree more.
By creating installation media either on a USB device or a DVD, you are in effect, killing two birds with one stone.
You have the same features as you would have with a plain "Recovery Drive" but.....
You also have the means to actually perform a clean install or an in-place upgrade repair.
So...... you have the best of both worlds.
