I installed Win 10 Home (upgrade from Win 8.1) on two PC's on July 31. One a desktop PC, the other a laptop. Both systems were working great until yesterday (Aug 6) when both machines started doing major network downloads (the desktop showed 100 GB of download overnight). Using task manager it was easy to see that the culprit for the downloads was the 'Runtime Broker'. I also noticed that the Runtime Broker also starts sucking up RAM memory (100's of MB). I can stop this process and the network downloads stop, but after 10 or 15 minutes, Runtime Broker reappears and starts network activity again.
This was not an issue before yesterday. Did Microsoft force a Win 10 upgrade?
My questions are:
1) anyone else experiencing this issue, and
2) if so, do you know of a fix?
Thank you,
Barton
