scan/sent document per e-mail

Using windows10 (64bit) - wireless printer Canon MX925 - Canon IJ Scan Utility - Outlook 2016 (office 365)
With the scan utility it is (was) possible to scan a document and if properly set in the app (as is) after the scan is done my e-mail
client opens with a new e-mail and the scanned document already attached to it. This worked so when I still used outlook 2011.
Not any more since I'm using outlook 2016 (office 365) and getting an error message (see attachment) I scrutinised the settings/
options in outlook 2016 but could not trace anything to solve this issue. Hope that anyone on this forum can help me.

Have you checked your default programs settings and made sure that Outlook 2016 has been configured as your default email program with all of its' defaults.

Thanks Trouble for your help. Have checked the default settings as you can see from the attached screenshot.
Situation unchanged still not working.
