Screen display size

Most times when I do a search or bring up some info the screen display is too big and crowds out information. I can use Ctl/minus to reduce it to a lower percent and be more manageable but then the next scree enlarges and I need to again reduce size. Is there a way to set the display so it "always" comes up in a more friendly viewing size I set? Even in the next session later today or tomorrow. Thanks for any help.
