I am looking for information regarding sharing whether it be in your homegroup, a photo shared to a friend, or adding them to your list of game friends on DoubleU Casino. What information can they get out of your computer once you've shared? Is it different with each application?

Broadly speaking if you share a file, that file will likely contain certain items of metadata, for instance.... a photo, taken with some cameras, might contain some general or specific geolocation information, information might also include some specifics as to the device used to take the photo, the "author" / "owner" / "creator" / "user name" of the file.
AND
Yes it is often different for each file type, as to what metadata may be included with the file, not so much the application or method you use to share it.
