How do I discontinue having a sign in each time I boot up?

Hello and welcome to the forum.
Try holding the Windows Logo key and striking the "R" key and typing
netplwiz
and hit enter
Uncheck the box at the top that says 'Users must enter a username and password to use this computer"
Click apply
make sure you account is selected and then enter the password twice.
OK
Reboot.
That should do it.
Just tested on a clean install of 10166 and it still works, although I've seen a couple reports where people have claimed that it doesn't.

Maybe a quick snip with the windows snipping tool, so we can see what you are seeing, like......

Me? I did it on my MS Account, but....
I have no reason to suspect that it wouldn't work just as well on a local account.

No. Addressed to the op. I have never had the need to have a local account, but wondered if, using one, the user even needs a password??

Check the box say ok, go back and clear the check say ok without apply. This worked on 8.1.

Those of us who don't like passwords can only dream of a high tech solution like an on/off switch.

No password needed on a local account, but you can create one when you create the local account.
