Sleep + Updates?

About every other day, my laptop will go to sleep while I'm using it - the screen goes black and when I click on it, it makes me input my password. I've noticed that this seems to happen when I have updates ready to be installed - is this a new windows 10 feature? Any way to stop it? I may downgrade back to Windows 8.1 if this will be reoccurring.
