Is there a free utility to remove spy ware. Ccleaner does not. I used AVG's one time free offering but would like to find a free utility.

There are a host of options for removing various malicious programs.
Unfortunately very few of the free versions run in real time except perhaps maybe SuperAntiSpyware.

These are the programs I use to generally delouse a computer with virus and or malware issues.
ADWcleaner from here http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/dl/125/
JRT (Junkware Removal Tool) from here http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/junkware-removal-tool/dl/131/
Norton Power Eraser from here https://security.symantec.com/nbrt/npe.aspx
Malwarebytes from here http://www.malwarebytes.org/mwb-download/confirm/
Ccleaner from here http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download/standard
TFC.exe (Temporary Files Cleaner) from here http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/files/file/187-tfc-temp-file-cleaner-by-oldtimer/
ESET Online Scanner from here http://www.eset.com/us/online-scanner/
Eset online scanner is a bit different than the others in that you need to either use
IE or download and run their smart installer if you're using another browser. Then tick
the radio button that says "Enable detection of potentiall unwanted application"
Then click the link that says "Advanced settings", then check all the boxes except the
one that mentions "Use custom proxy settings", unless of course you're using a Proxy
Server. Then just click "Start", it will do a thorough system scan so it takes a long
time.
I don't check the links above everyday, so if you have any problem with any one of them then just Google for the program name but use the site names that I have recommended since I'm relatively certain they are free of extraneous garbage.

I have been using Malwarebytes Premium for a while now.
I was one of the lucky ones who hit the lifetime license offer when it was $20 bucks.
That and the native Microsoft "Defender" product is all I run on my main machine.

I ran Malwarebytes and it removed the pups. Beeping Computer found only 2 items. Norton Power Eraser would not load. I may take your advise regarding a purchase of Malwarebytes. Still shopping. Thanks again.

Says it "can not scan a computer running directly from a compressed Windows image file known as WIMboot. Error code OX8004100c,n44,n66 and gives me a link to a support document.
It never got to the run option.

It is a mini pc which came with Windows 8.1 and I upgraded to 10 using the task bar icon. Nothing fancy. It is an unusual pc at 4"x4"x1" . It is running Windows 10 well and I have really grown comfortable with it. The only downside to Windows 10 I see is that games will take a while to adapt to it but they will. I am not too disappointed that Norton can not scan my system.

Malwarebytes and Defender is all I use...never had an issue but then again it's all about good/smart surfing habits..I thing in the last 15 years I've had one questionable invasion..I might add that Defender has a uber small footprint on system resources as opposed to the bloatware of many other security suites.

I too use Malwarebytes, Ccleaner, and rely on Defender. However; I run Malwarebytes and Ccleaner manually as they really slow down start up if left to load at start.
