Start Menu Doesn't Show Settings

Hold the Windows Logo key on the bottom left of your keyboard and strike the R key and in the run dialog box type
ms-settings:settings
hit enter or click OK.
Does that produce "Settings"

thanks. it produces settings but not on the start menu. and as i said, left clicking does not open start menu.
also since downloading 10, can't find former word or excell documents or icons
