Trouble with Start Menu

My start menu is so large that the sides go outside of the place where I can get the control to resize the menu. As a result the left side panel of the start menu does not show up without clicking the icon. Also, because it takes up the entire screen, I can't right click the empty space to personalize. Can someone help me with this?

Hello and welcome to the forum.
Hold the Windows Logo Key and strike the I (eye or 9th letter of the alphabet) key.
Personalization -> Start -> Use Start Full Screen -> Off
