I have an ASUS computer and prior to downloading windows 10 I was able to turn the touch pad off and use my mouse. With windows 10 my mouse works but so does my touch pad. I have tried going so far as deleting the touch pad driver but to no avail. Its gone for a few minutes and then returns.

Hello kurt and welcome to the forum.
I think the key would be to obtain the proper driver for your touchpad.
Use your computer manufacturer's website in your case ASUS.
They will generally have a support area where you can download the latest driver available for your hardware.
After that check and see if the driver / software package provides you with the ability to again turn off your touchpad.

That's correct. Dells, for example, which I use, come with this. It is a function which appears in the Control Panel. Fwiw, the Dell version is called "Alps"
