Regular folks running the Creators Update.
At least that's what I found waiting, when manually running Windows Update today on my installation.
Requires restart.

Regular folk who have the Creators update. I am out of the insider thing until I read on here or on Twitter that there is something new that I am interested in!

Actually it just became available to me a couple minutes ago, sometime after 12:00 noon my local time.
It may be different for different regions geographically.

Maybe, finally, the end of the windows 10 line for me. The cumulative update has totally removed every icon on my computer - now they are text only.

Have you tried rebuilding the icon cache?..or refreshing the desktop icons?

Damn..... I wish these odd frustrating issues would cease.
As Bif has suggested I would rebuild the icon and thumbnail cache just to see if that straightened the problem out.
I cannot imagine being a normal, average, everyday user and having to deal with this stuff.
I had a laptop delivered to me the other day with some battery / charging issues and during the course of my diagnosis, I noticed that they were not running the Creators Update.
I considered installing it for about 10 seconds and then decided against it. I thought ...... why borrow problems.

The charging problem was a bad AC adapter / charger.
Evidently all new Dell laptops have some "intelligent" circuitry built into there power boards, which include something called a "dallas" chip and a special wire in the adapter, evidently they're not very hearty / durable or suffer from a rather short life expectancy.
Anyhow..... a new adapter cured that problem (plugged in not charging according to the battery icon) and it was returned without the Creators Update. I'm relatively certain that the owner was blissfully unaware.

I have tried every conceivable fix. The distressing news was that, even uninstalling the latest updates did not cure the problem so I am now thinking something has blown in my Laptop.

I am about to reload the earlier image so I have fingers crossed!!!!!!!

OK. Back with my image reloaded. Everything working 100%

As always, it is difficult to understand. This is the first major problem I have had, right through the history of Windows 10. When I look at the details of this latest "Cumulative" update, first thing I see it is only concerned with security problems. In fact, it calls itself a security update after install, and not a cumulative update.
For the moment, I am going to cut out all possibilities of further updates, in order to have a 100% working model. (and keep it that way)

Pretty sure that it was a "Cumulative Update"

I did receive a couple other Security Updates at the same time for Adobe Flash Player as well as some Office products.

Have a look in the update list in the programs and features window "View installed updates", and see what it is called there. Might help my investigations.

OK. All solved. The simplest solution, which did not occur to me.
I downloaded each package as a standalone and ran them one by one, It seems it was only a corrupted download of the cumulative update, which had caused the problem.

Dave, I wonder if many of these W10 problems immediately after updates are cause by a corrupted download?
But why doesn't W10 check that and redownload automatically? I realize that for people on slow or metered internet that would be a serious pain.

Good thoughts Tim. In my case, though, lesson learned. I have turned off automatic downloads and from now will only download the standalones.
But, if I understand you correctly, Nothing wrong with the update package, I think, it was just my lousy connection issues with my provider.

Yes, I remember you saying that your connection was bad. I also thought that some 3rd party AV products used to corrupt Windows builds and updates...I suspect that nowadays all the major AV companies have that sorted out.

Update went much smoother than previous ones, even on the older 14393 that I have on another computer. Must have gotten a good window to download the update without corruption (usually the first try always fails).

The K4016871 Update has changed the way the date and time displays in another software installed on my computer. The dates are not showing up at all in my individual PC, but in other clients that I support, the update has messed up the image of the date and time so its not legible at all. The software uses MS Access to house the data. The dates appear in Access fine, but on the screen where the data input is entered, the dates don't appear at all or can't be viewed correctly. I have tried uninstalling the update, I have attempted to restore from a previous restore point with no avail. It started just after the update was released with one of our clients but because I could not replicate the issue on my personal PC, I told them to contact their IT specialist (thinking it was a display issue). Please note, that everybody else in the office that had not received this update, (shared database application) that they were seeing the dates and times ok. It was unique to only his workstation, and he was the only one that had the update installed. Then the update happened on my personal PC on Friday of last week, and now I have the issue. Today, to other clients reported that they had the update, and their dates are gone.

I have tried restoring the default settings for time and date, but this hasn't worked either. I'm out of ideas. Any suggestions?

Dave You didn't need that kind of grief. I'm just the average user and dreading the day the creator update arrives. It's comforting though knowing we have dedicated knowledgeable members behind us.

So if there's nothing good on the tube and you have an hour to spare!?;).......
I had a few votes of confidence from forum members which honestly helped alot.
