Hello,

due to a hard disc failure i am installing a SSD drive and would like to know is it necessary to turn off the Disc Defrag in Windows 10?
I have also seen a lot of posts about the TRIM feature. Some say OFF while others say ON.
Please provide your input so I can make a more informed decision.

Thank you

Windows 10 will recognize the drive as a SSD and will not defrag it. You don't have to set or do anything. W10 is smart enough to manage the SSD properly.

Note that Windows does not even call that tool a defragger anymore. It is called Disk Optimize. Don't disable it.

No problem. And BTW, prepare to be amazed with your SSD. I will never go back to hard drives.

I already have one in my laptop that runs Manjaro linux. Boot time to log in is about 7 seconds. :)

IF you've purchased your SSD good deal.
If not I highly recommend Samsung SSDs. They're the best available IMHO.
I'm currently using an 840 PRO 120 GB version. I may upgrade to an 850 PRO with the V-Nand MLC technology in a few months though.
