Width of favorites in windows 10, version 1511

Just upgraded laptop to newest version of windows 10 (1511). I use favorites a lot, and usually pin them for easy access. The favorites list since upgrade now takes up well over 1/3 of screen. I have tried moving cursor to edge of favorite list in order to get a double arrow and make the list not as wide, but double arrow never appears. I thought about re-naming the favorites to a shorter name that would not take up as much room, but surely there must be an easier way to do this?
