Good morning everyone & anyone.
I seem to be in a wee spot of trouble.
I require some assistance on how to install WIN10 64bit pro (disk)
into my new custom built tower.

My PC spec's are as follows
- Gigabyte ultra durable motherboard.
- CPU- AMD FX 8 core black edition
- GPU card- ASUS GTX 650
- ram- 8gb Kingston savage 2400mhz
- 650 watt thermoltake power supply
- 1000gb sata hard drive

I'm a fairly resourceful person.
This was my 1st time building a tower, and
i can't believe it works.
It took me 2 yrs ( since xp stopped)
to collect all my parts for my new PC.
I would very much like to start using it A.S.A.P.

Anyhow, I don't have the funds
to get someone to install my OS .
I'm pretty certain i can do it myself.

My question is,
Is there anything i have to do before
inserting the win10 disk?

Hello and welcome to the forum.
I removed your email address from your post above to avoid potential spammers.

Nothing in particular that I can think of.
You might want to have a look through your new motherboard's system setup utility BIOS and confirm that it is configured as you want.
Assuming all new or reasonably new parts including the hard drive, you should be able to boot to the installation media and install into the unallocated space.
That would of course use the entirety of the 1 TB drive as your C drive which you can address if you so wish after the install or prior to it if you have a bootable partition manager.

Recently I, using an existing case, built a tower with a new Gigabyte mobo with new cpu, memory and a 250GB SSD. I reused a Nvidia graphics card and a BD drive. I have a Microsoft account.

Went through the Bios to check that the Bios would boot first from the BD drive.

Plugged in an ethernet cable into my router. W10 install REALLY likes to be connected immediately and ethernet works better than WiFi for this...less fiddling about.

Put the Windows 10 disk in the drive and powered up. Followed the prompts. That was it. 15 minutes later I had a W10 machine. Display resolution was off. Rebooted, signed in with my MS account, went to Windows update and immediately an Nvidia driver downloaded.

THEN I took the CD that came with the mobo ( and I presume yours has a CD as well) and loaded the minimum stuff. Mobo chip drivers and another Intel package. I did not load anything else from that disk, no AV, no Chrome, no nuffing.!

The I spent the next few hours getting and downloading Chrome,iTunes,GEforce(for Nividia), Calibre, Thunderbird and all the stuff I actually use. I have Office 365 so I went off to my Office account for that. Got rid of most of the tiles on the start menu.
Had the OS find my printer. Installed the HP AIO printer utility from the store.

This is how it worked for me in a similar situation.

Thank -you very much Noob Whisperer for deleting my e-mail.
Keep forgetting.
And, thank-you for the win10 info.
I do know how to access the Bios screen, Mb etc..
But, configuring is all new to me.
Actually , i can't believe i built my 1st PC.
My apologies, i do not understand what
"installation media, using up the entirety of 1tb drive or
bootable partition manager is'.
All parts are brand spankin new.
I also understand that from the bios menu, i
have to put DVD-r drive in slot 1 and hard drive in slot 2,3, or 4.
save & exit, which will restart, then insert win10 disk.

Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery,
today is a gift, that's why it's called the present.

Thanks for the info Tim.

Honestly, it sounds all so complicated.
I'm aware of what a bios menu is, but my knowledge of it
is limited.
I found that building my tower was pretty simple.
That would probably be due to the fact, 7 yrs ago i bought my 1st PC.
Factory customized & WINXP pro installation.

Learned how to take it apart and clean it.
But installing an OS, I'm at a whole new level here.
One might think the OS is the easy part.
East for them to say.

I would very much like to start this 1st thing tomorrow
morn. Finished building my new tower 3 days ago.
It's sitting right beside me as we speak.

Getting really antsy.
Haven't played a game since XP quit.
Being the hardcore gamer that i am, Made lot's of
sacrifices.
Even bought a wireless, laser, built in Li-on battery & 6 button mouse.
Still in the package, for nearly 5 months.
Only to be opened on 1st game. ( Doom 2016)

With and 8 core AMD & Kingston savage ram.
Oh man, i can feel the power.
Waited 2 yrs for this day to come.

I truly hope to God that it will work.
Can't afford bringing it to a PC shop.
Being on disability doesn't grant me many options.
It's imperative, i do this myself.

or, i can get by with a little help from my friends.

I
n the Bios there should be a 'boot priority setting' you just need to to have the dvd as 1st and the hard disk as 2nd. There may be entries for USB and for LAN. Just ignore those for now.
Hardware wise the Hard disk should go in SATA slot 0 and the DVD in the next slot. but you have probably done that already.

Installing W10 isn't complicated although if you read through this forum you'll find plenty of people who had trouble ( who were then sorted out by Trouble)

As you are starting with new hardware and a DVD of Windows I bet it will just zoom through and work first time.

Tuning up the OS can wait until you are ready to do it.

Agreed.
With a new blank hard disk, there isn't anything else bootable except the Windows 10 Installation Media (DVD or USB ThumbDrive).
So that's pretty much the only option you are going to get to see....... "Install Now".
My reference to the BIOS should have probably been omitted as Defaults or Optimized Defaults are probably going to be fine.
I was just thinking of EFI / SafeBoot, versus Legacy MBR and AHCI versus Native SATA / IDE.
But..... again..... the defaults are probably going to be fine.
IF not, wipe it and clean install again..... Good practice, and practice makes perfect.

Right. The Bios on those Gigabyte ultra durable boards has 1 billion options of which only a very few are of any use unless you are going to do extreme overclocking. I read all the way through the manual before starting and all I did was to turn off the internal crummy Intel graphics...which isn't necessary as it is automatic if a card is plugged in.

Thanks for the info Tim.
I'm truly grateful for all the help.
There are three words that almost everyone on the planet
have a hard time saying,"i need help".
It must be a matter of pride.
I'm not afraid to ask for help.

That's the next thing I'll be learning "overclocking'.
But for now, stick with the basics.
And yes, i always read and research before doing something i don't understand.
But honestly, there's not very much help online for wiin10 pro 64bit. But for win7, 8 & 8.1
there's tons of help.

I'm presuming win10 will be able to find all my drivers.
only my M Board came with a disk.
I keep seeing the phrase ' WIN MEDIA CREATION TOOL".
when I'm researching win10.
I put the file on my flash drive, just in case
What its supposed to do, I'm not sure, but I'll find out..

Well, in just a few short hours, I'll be using my new PC, i hope.

Mr Don't know. Do not learn about overclocking! Why would you want to stress and strain your new PC. The current generation of processors are fast enough for anyone!

We expect you to keep us uptodate on your progress.

Thank you very much Trouble for all your input,
greatly appreciated.
I am now signing off for a few hours.
Getting ready to install my OS.

I'll let you all know how my progress is going.
I can still use my phone to email ,etc...

Have a little joke for trouble.

Shut -up & trouble where in the woods one day and somehow
trouble got lost.
Shut-up walked aimlessly looking for trouble , but no luck.
Finally, shut-up ran into a police officer asking to help find
his friend.
The officer started questioning shut-up by asking his name.
"Alright kid, your name pls"',
"Shut-up"',
"Excuse me", officer said.
"What is your name",
"Shut up",
"Look kid, tell me to shut-up one more time &
I'll arrest you.
"So, last time, what is your name",
"Shut-up",
"Alright, that's it,
"are you looking for trouble",
"Yeah, which way did he go"?

well, i didn't get very far trying to install my OS.
Hooked everything up, turned on power, and
theirs no signal to my monitor.
I went over it cm by cm.
I really have no idea what to do next.
Can't believe it took 2 yrs in acquiring
all the parts for my new PC, only to
be discouraged, once again.
Looks like I'll be keeping my new PC
in the closet, until i can afford to haul it
down to a PC specialist.
Which won't be anytime soon.
Back to my slow and boring old PC.

To anyone & everyone that helped me through this,
i thank -you
I bid thee a fond farewell.

What changed between then and now. I thought there was even some indication that you were or had been able to access the new system's BIOS utility, which would require a signal to the monitor.

Dont give up now! You said you were using a graphics card. Unplug the PC from the wall, open it up and remove that. Plug the monitor into the video socket on the back of the case. If everything is new I imagine it will either be hdmi or DVI. Start up the monitor and use its on screen menu ( which it will have ) to set the input mode ( whatever you are using) and set the brightness fairly well up. Then turn on the PC. You should then see the GigaByte logo and hopefully see the
invitation to press Del or F2 or something to enter setup.

don't put in GPU card yet. Plug HDMI into MBOARD instead.
I'm TRYING THAT RIGHT NOW.

No Tim, I will not give up. I've waited 2 yrs for this day.
I'm just taking a break for a day.
I'm not the type to give up so easily either, but
2 yrs of waiting , only to be disillusioned.
As god as my witness, i will get this thing to work.
