Windows 10: how to install programs?

From Windows Store or from the websites ?

Installing programs from the websites is no different from which Windows OS one is using.
Am I missing what you said ?

I want to re-install WordPerfect 12, b ut I can't seem to figure out how to in stall any programs. Basic stuff, I know, but I don't know what the first step is to go to the "install programs" thing.

Is it coming off disc? If so then you can insert disk and chose run setup or if that doesn't come up then go to file manager-look for disc-click auto setup. If from internet then click run. Hope this helps.

And in the case of a program as old as Word Perfect 12, you may have to run the setup.exe program in compatibility mode and even then it might not work.
Good luck and I would very much like to hear if you were successful in getting it to install and run properly on Windows 10.

Thank you, but I can't seem to find "file manager."

file manager aka file explorer is generally located on your taskbar in what was formerly known as the quick start menu area on the left by the start button and looks like a folder.
Otherwise just hold the Windows Logo Key on your keyboard and strike the "E" key
