Windows 10 opened with a search window.

I am missing the search window in the lower left corner of windows 10. Clicking on the search symbol produces a blank white or black rectangle that doesn't take any type. How do I get my windows 7 back?

Windows Logo Key + I = Settings
Update & Security -> Recovery
Do you see the option there.
